I'M almost packed and ready to get on the long, long flight to Sydney. We’re now less than two weeks away from UFC 110 at the Acer Arena in Sydney and I am just counting down the days now. All the hard work has been done, and now it is about fine tuning and getting into the zone.

I’m about to say goodbye to my two kids and partner, Becky. She’s pregnant with our third child but, as an Aussie, is gutted not to be making this trip with me.

She has lived in England for years now, and before I won the Ultimate Fighter series we couldn’t afford to go to Australia together. She’s been back home a few times now, and taken the kids, who have Aussie passports, but each time they’ve gone I have been in training. Now it is me going to Australia alone.  read more »

UFC middleweight contender, Michael “The Count” Bisping has revealed that he’s drawing on his past experience against Chris Leben ahead of his fight with Wanderlei Silva later this month, saying there are definite similaries between the two men.

Speaking to the Daily Telegraph, Bisping said:

“He’s known as someone who installs fear into opponents mentally. He’s known as the guy with the fierce stare downs and someone who works on intimidation a lot. That’s not a good opponent for anyone struggling with nerves. You’ve got to go out and fight someone like Silva with maximum confidence. You can’t do anything halfway with him. Either you go out there and believe in yourself or you get knocked out quickly. He will prey on any sign of weakness or nerves.”  read more »

Tonight on MMABay Radio, UFC middleweights Michael “The Count” Bisping and “The Axe Murderer” Wanderlei Silva exchanged verbal barbs ahead of their UFC 110 showdown on February 21st, something that any MMA fan is not going to want to miss.

Speaking this week’s show, Wanderlei was asked if he respected Michael Bisping and said:

“Respect is only for outside the octagon. Inside the octagon I respect nobody. What I’m thinking is Michael will be afraid to fight with me in the stand-up, because his punches haven’t knocked out anybody and he’s going to try to give me the double leg with the head outside. He’ll have just one takedown, I know which way he’s going, I have my game plan to beat him in this style.”

Bisping responded to that by saying:  read more »

After several weeks of tense speculation, UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar ended the waiting today, appearing on ESPN’s SportsCenter to let the world know that he’s returning to the Octagon after a serious bout with diverticulosis.

“Let’s make it clear,” said Lesnar with a smile. “I still am the UFC heavyweight champion.” Watch the interview on ESPN

Road to Recovery
The 32-year old Lesnar fell ill in October, forcing him to withdraw from his November title defense against Shane Carwin.

“I was just feeling sick for the longest time,” said Lesnar. “My camp wasn’t going well. I missed almost three weeks, I kept going to the doctor and couldn’t find out what the problem was. Finally I said to my trainers, I can’t do this fight.”

Originally diagnosed with Mononucleosis, Lesnar went to Canada on a hunting trip, and his condition worsened.  read more »
